For all my love for colourful clothing, some days you need something a little more low-key and subdued. That's part of what I love about fashion--no need to adhere to just one style. You can always change things up and try different colours and styles to reflect your sense of self (or at least the self you'd like to project to the world) on a particular day. This is one of my oldest coats, which I purchased on a trip to Los Angeles just over seven years ago. I still much prefer it to many coats I've seen, in large part for its great structure and nipped waistline. I'm quite taken with this Club Monaco cashmere t-shirt, which, ironically enough, I also picked up in Los Angeles during my recent trip in the fall (at a 70% off sale!). I just love its soft texture and its versatility, and that it's just so comfy! In the end, I couldn't just be completely serious with all this neutralness. Couldn't resist adding a touch of whimsy by way of this adorable Modcloth necklace. Nothing wrong with finding ways of including a bit of lightness and whimsy to even the most serious of outfits. If anything, neutral outfits are ripe for the addition of a fun accent piece.
